Honeybun Face Mask

I call this mask "honeybun" because it uses honey and baking soda, so it reminds me of baking.  Also, it looks like the glaze on honeybuns when it starts to dry on your face.

Ingredients:
  • 10 Asprin, crushed
  • 4T Baking Soda
  • 2t Water
  • 1t Honey
Directions:
Foaming after adding water
  1. In a small bowl, mix together aspirin and baking soda.
  2. Add water and stir to make a paste.
  3. Add honey and stir until thick, or thicker than it was before.
  4. Let sit for a couple of minutes.  The mask will continue to get a little thicker as it sits.
  5. Apply to face, avoiding eyes and mouth.
  6. Allow mask to harden, about 10 minutes, and then rinse with warm water.
  7. Follow with toner and moisturizer. (I use witch hazel as a toner)

Tips:

  • Mask will be a little runny when you first apply.  If you prefer a thicker mask, add baking soda 1 teaspoon at a time.
  • I like to put a little lemon juice on a cotton ball and swipe over my face after rinsing off this mask.  I wait about 15 minutes and then rinse the lemon juice off.  This helps to lighten any dark spots or scars you have on your skin.

  1. Would it work if I didn't use aspirin?

  2. Sure, but I would substitute with a little more baking soda to thicken it. The purpose of the aspirin is to reduce inflammation for any blemishes you might have, but I do think the mask will work well without. Good luck!

    1. You can certainly use a different brand of aspirin, but Tylenol or another pain reliever might not give you the same results.
