Friday Favorites: 8 Tailgating Must Haves

Tomorrow I'm going to a college football game with my husband and some of his friends.  The best part of this, to me, is the tailgating!  I'm looking forward to making some great food (recipes to come later, post hangover), playing corn hole, and drinking beers with the guys!
I decided to make this "Friday Favorite" all about the products that make tailgating fun, easy, and practical.

1. Portable GrillRoadTrip® Grill LXE

You've got to have a grill!  I have this portable grill in black and it comes in so handy for tailgating and camping!

2. The Ultimate Cooler

This particular cooler comes with a grill, even better!  It has a front compartment for grilling utensils, which comes in very handy.

This cooler is more my style... BIG!  Big enough to fit all the beer we want, plus extra space for food.  And, Jesus, it comes with a table and chairs!

If you're allowed to bring beer in with you (not likely at a college game), this smaller/lighter cooler is a must! In addition to the tailgating cooler, of course!

3. The Comforts of Home

Speaking of table and chairs... I recommend you bring a folding table to lay out the food and some comfortable chairs, if you're planning on spending a few hours tailgating.

This chair is great!  Why would you ever leave it?

Look at this spread!  How amazing does that look?  Ohhh I'm getting so excited for this season!

4. Skin Care

Yeah, I said it: skin care.  Put some damn sunscreen on!  Not only could you get skin cancer, but the sun AGES you!  You don't want to look older than you are, right?  I didn't think so.

Don't forget the bug spray!  The only thing worse than old wrinkly (sun damaged) skin, is old wrinkly skin covered in mosquito bites.  Do yourself a favor and spray for bugs.

5. Weather Preparation

Here's a tip for you: don't depend on the weather predictions.  Bring an umbrella, ponchos, coat, gloves... whatever kind of weather could happen, be prepared for it.  With that said, it's still hot as hell in the south, make sure you drink plenty of water along with those beers.  Nothing ruins a party like the asshole who got heat stroke.  A pop-up tent is good to have no matter what the weather turns out to be.

6. Games

Don't be bored standing around looking at each other.  Bring some games to play!  The game of choice in the dirty south is corn hole.

7. Keep it Clean

Don't find yourself without the things listed below.  Chances are the port-a-potties will not have TP, there will be no place to wash your hands, something will get spilled, and you're going to have a lot of garbage left over.

  • Toilet Paper
  • Paper Towels
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Garbage bags

8. Things to Leave at Home

  • Your dog
  • High Heels- Please wear something reasonable on your feet, this is not a fashion show.
  • Weapons, duh
  • Any food that's mayonnaise based or would spoil easily in the sun

So, aside from the food, I think I covered the basic must haves for tailgating.  Don't forget the most important thing is to have a good time!

Good luck to your favorite team(s) and happy tailgating season!
